Sir, – I note the comments (Home News, August 3rd) by current Anglo chief executive Mike Aynsley that it was “disgraceful” former Irish Nationwide chief executive Michael Fingleton would accept an €11,500 watch as a retirement gift when Anglo was “financially distressed”.

Perhaps the acceptance of this present was disgraceful, but not quite as disgraceful as the giving of it. – Yours, etc,
