Madam, - As a godson of the late Senator Margaret Pearse, I recall that during my frequent visits to St Enda's she delighted in recounting anecdotes to do with her brothers. One of these was about how Patrick loved technical advances and how he arranged that a radio mast be erected in the grounds of St Enda's to broadcast to the world that the Easter Rising had begun.
It therefore entirely in keeping with the spirit of Patrick Pearse that a mobile phone mast be now erected so that the free citizens of Ireland can communicate with each other.
It is surely ironic that one of the leading objectors to this marvellous development should wrap a different green flag round himself. - Yours, etc,
