Madam, - Cllr Naoise Ó Muirí (January 19th) is on the ball about the unsuitability of the site on Vernon Avenue, Clontarf, where the ESB plans to build a 20 metre communications mast.

This site is right beside the local health centre and very close to GAA pitches 21 and 22 in St Anne's Park, on which my grandchildren regularly play.

Shame on Dublin City Council for granting the planning application, to which all our local public representatives objected. Let us hope An Bord Pleanála will overturn the decision.

In the meantime, parents of young children who use mobile phones should be aware of the potential dangers posed to their brains by their use.

As a precaution, they should limit usage and perhaps allow texting only, this posing a lesser risk that holding the phone to one's ear. - Yours, etc.,
