Sir, – I was delighted to read (Home News, March 6th) of the donation of the 39 AIB art works to the Crawford Art Gallery in Cork.
Your report states, “[Minister for Arts] Mr Deenihan said he believed it was appropriate that the works should be exhibited at the gallery as it was the only national cultural institution in the country outside of Dublin and it offered a fine exhibition space in which to show the paintings.”
I would point out, however, that the Crawford is not the only national cultural institution outside Dublin. I write this at my desk in another national cultural institution outside the capital: the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life at Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co Mayo. – Yours, etc,
