Madam, - In his Irishman's Diary of March 24th Kevin Myers refers to "a national aquarium which a gust of wind has turned into an open-air pool".
Lest there be any confusion, let me state that the National Aquarium of Ireland, situated in Salthill, Galway, continues to operate as an all-weather, fully roofed day visitor attraction. It was constructed in 1999 by the excellent local construction company J.J. Rhatigan and funded entirely by private enterprise. - Yours, etc.,
LIAM J. TWOMEY, General Manager, National Aquarium of Ireland, Salthill, Galway.
