Sir, - In a recent edition you ran a front-page story about a tax defaulter from Waterford. You also gave the matter considerable coverage in the financial section of the paper.
Given the individual's amazing statement that "it gave him pleasure to write a cheque for in excess of £2 million to the Revenue", it was somewhat surprising to note the lack of coverage, with one exception, which this item received in the local media.
Waterford is a relatively small city, and it would not have been unreasonable to expect this to turn out to be one of the news stories of the year. However, it seems this was not to be.
I wonder if the fact that this individual's company advertises extensively in the local media could have a bearing on the lack of publicity? - Yours, etc.,
