Sir, - David Fairclough's implication that the larger EU states are "more equal than others" strikes me as a little odd. Compare Germany (population 80 million, two commissioners) with Ireland (population 4 million, one commissioner). One could easily come to the conclusion that Irish people are, on average, about 10 times "more equal" than Germans. - Yours, etc.,
