Sir, - Chris Ryder (September 8th) talks of the fears of Northern Protestants that they would be taken over by the Republic in a reunited Ireland.
Speaking as a Catholic whose formative years were spent in a die-hard Protestant area near Ballymena, I am convinced that the Ulster Scots, as they call themselves, would take over the South in the event of reunification.
They could have done it in a canter in 1921. - Yours, etc.,
