Sir, - First, there was the peaceful transition in South Africa; more recently, war in the Middle East was averted at the last minute; and now, a third miracle: the very real possibility of peace in Ireland.
There has been talk of a Nobel Peace Prize for the architects of this historic treaty. If there is to be a prize, let it go to those who will have chosen to put centuries of mistrust and hatred behind them: the Irish people themselves.
