Sir, Your editorial of February 9th regarding the Ceann Comhairle was incorrect in one respect. This was when you said that a Ceann Comhairle does not normally come from the ranks of potential or former ministers.
Since 1973 the present Ceann Comhairle, Mr Sean Treacy, is the only one who was not a past or future minister. Mr Tom Fitzpatrick, Mr Joe Brennan and Mr Padraig Faulkner were all former ministers and Mr John O'Connell was subsequently to become a minister. Yours, etc., Cabra West, Dublin 7.
