Sir, - I follow with great interest the happenings at home in Ireland through a daily reading of The Irish Times Web edition. It was with a great sense of joy that I read of the awakening of interest in the tens of thousands of southern Irishmen who fought and died in the fields of France and Belgium, on the beaches of Gallipoli and the Macedonian plains.

Will our children at last be informed of the heroic deeds of their forefathers who fought for Irish Home Rule under a foreign king and on foreign soil? Will they at last be proud of the men who left Kingstown Harbour with fine regiments such as the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, Connacht Rangers and Leinster Rifles, never to return? Will they hold the brave men of the 16th Irish division in the same esteem as the heroes of the Easter Rising?

I know that I will! - Yours, etc., Conor Mowlds,
