Madam, – I am a graduate student at NUI Galway. Last term I began archival research into actress Aideen (Una) O’Connor, who in 1933 joined the Abbey Theatre Company and travelled to the US a number of times. She married an Abbey actor/producer named Arthur Shields and settled in Hollywood, where she died in 1950. I’ve made contact with some of her family and they have been most generous with their time and support. However, I’m now looking to make contact with anyone who knew Aideen O’Connor, or remembers her time at the Abbey. Particularly, I’ve been trying to trace the family of Frolie Mulhern, a close friend of Aideen when she worked in theatre in Dublin and whose scrapbooks are in the National Library of Ireland.
