Sir, - In An Irishwoman's Diary of June 21st, Lorna Siggins skipped a generation by referring to Lord Glenavy, former Lord Chief Justice, as the father of Patrick Campbell, Quidnunc of The Irish Times.

The Irish Law Times and Solicitors' Journal of March 28th, 1931, included an obituary of James Henry Mussen Campbell (1851-1931), first Baron Glenavy, vice-chancellor of Dublin University, former Lord Chief Justice and Lord Chancellor of Ireland, who served the Irish Free State as Senate chairman.

His eldest son, Charles Gordon Campbell, secretary of the Department of Industry and Commerce, succeeded to the title as the second Lord Glenavy.

According to Henry Boylan's Dictionary of Irish Biography, Patrick Gordon Campbell, humorous essayist, became the third baron Glenavy on his father's death in 1963. - Yours, etc.,
