Madam, - Like Desmond Fennell (April 12th), I too spent some time in Europe recently. Having been thoroughly spoilt by our clean air over the past year, I found it agonising having to eat and drink in a smoky atmosphere and my clothes acquired a stench to which I had become thoroughly unused.
Our smoke-free pub and restaurant atmosphere is something to appreciate and be proud of, and I have no doubt that more countries will follow our example in years to come. - Yours, etc.,
