Madam, - I am very upset at the use of the photograph of Kevin Bridgeman, the mentally ill man who killed his mother (July 7th). Kevin Bridgeman, from what I have heard, is extremely ill and cannot understand some of the things that you and I can. He certainly does not deserve to be photographed in a confused and frightened state. I understand that a newspaper's job is to inform people about what is going on but do you think it is necessary to photograph a man who is confused and scared?
As the law goes, no juvenile's picture is to be shown in a newspaper or on television for committing a crime. Should the same law be used for a child-like person as well? - Yours, etc.,
NICHOLAS ARMSTRONG (aged 11) Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham, Dublin 16.
