Madam, - Most of us remember a time when every cinema was filled with a thick haze of smoke; you inhaled either your own or your neighbour's cigarette fumes. Without a whimper, this tradition disappeared overnight - was it some time in the 1980s?
Interestingly, there was been no collapse in numbers going to the cinema; on the contrary, cinema audiences have grown enormously since cinemas became smoke-free. If I were a pub owner I would not waste any sleepless nights over an end to smoking in pubs. - Yours, etc.,
KATHARINE LARKIN, Main Street, Bennettsbridge, Co Kilkenny.
