Sir, – I disagree with David Eves’s argument regarding the use by local authorities of industrial precast interlocking motorway barriers along the scenic Ring

of Kerry (September 14th).

Having just completed the Ring of Beara, I can report that Cork County Council

has installed an industrial barrier along a number of corners. It looks awful. Surely it can use either a single-strand metal barrier fixed to low posts or, better still, build low retaining walls using local stonework.

Frank McDonald is right. Precast concrete panels in such areas ought to be replaced. – Yours, etc,
