Sir, - I am a mature student studying for the NCVA award in English. As part of this award, I am doing a project on the Irish poet Patrick Kavanagh. While doing research for this, I have discovered that the anthology Soundings, used by students all over Ireland for years, lists Mr Kavanagh as having been born in 1906.
This is completely wrong, as he was born on October 21st, 1904. This information I found in a book written by his brother, Peter Kavanagh, entitled Patrick Kavanagh, Man and Poet. The year of his death, as printed in Soundings, is also wrong; it states he died in 1968, when in fact he died in 1967. I personally think this major error should be corrected immediately. - Yours, etc.,
