Madam, – On my last trip to Ireland a few years ago, I was staying with family in Galway. Driving myself around, I stopped and asked an older man on the road “Does this road go to Corrandulla?” He just quietly looked at me and said, “This road goes nowhere, it just be where it is.” Now if there had been more signage I would never have met this man. We had a great chat and I found the way. Later in a pub in Longford I borrowed the phone to inquire of a relative the way to their place.
A fellow at the bar asked where I was from – Australia I told him. We had a chat and I said my husband was a Galwayman. The fellow answered, “What sort of a Galwayman has his woman running around on her own?” Again, I had a laugh, a great chat and found my way.
Thank you all for the friendliness and helpfulness of your people. – Yours, etc,
