Sir, - It is difficult to fully agree with Anne Byrne's praise of the CAO university entrance points system (The Irish Times, December 8th). This system, based on six subjects in the Leaving Certificate examinations, is unfair to those whose intelligence is highly specialised, and to those whose academic development is relatively slow.
The likes of Albert Einstein would thus find it well-nigh impossible to obtain a place in a university here! - Yours, etc.,
M. Delmonte, Clinical Psychologist, Monkstown, Co. Dublin.
