Sir, - The Department of Justice continues its noble fight to keep Ireland free, sober and white. With heroic endeavour it is closing in on the poor of the world.
The more persecuted you are the more ready is this awful Department and its curious Minister, John O'Donoghue, TD, to kick you out of this fair land.
Yet, not so long ago, our politicians were on their knees not in prayer but begging everyone they could find in Washington not to deport Irish illegal emigrants who thronged the East Coast of the US. Our politicians were ready to grovel for Green Cards. Of course this was being done on behalf of fair skinned folk. If you should be anyway odd in appearance when landing at an Irish port you are en route to the local clink and deported.
The shameful policy of the Department of Justice dates from the 1930s and it is not one bit upset at being stained with racialism.
Is it not interesting that, with honourable and brave exceptions, the main body of TDs and senators are silent on this issue. And why? There are no votes in refugees. - Yours, etc., Brian Quinn,
Kincora Grove, Dublin 3.
