Sir, - I read with some sadness about the Eastern Europeans arrested in Wexford (May 20th). As one who has benefited from a lottery visa in the US, I think that it is a little ungrateful of us in Ireland to send people back when all they seek is a chance to better themselves. It is fortunate for millions and millions of Irish men and women that Australia, Canada, the US and the UK did not think like we seem to. These countries have all benefited from the presence of large numbers of Irish immigrants. Could we not learn from that lesson ? - Yours, etc.,
Peter M. Buchanan, Washington DC, USA.
