Sir, We were very pleased to read (The Irish Times, May 7th) that the refugees from Kosovo would be provided with good accommodation, medical care, educational services, and permission to work and to remain in Ireland permanently if they so wish. The Department of Foreign Affairs, the health boards and all of the other State organisations involved are to be congratulated on making this possible.
Ireland's treatment of these Kosovar refugees - under the spotlight of international publicity - is in stark contract to its treatment of non-UN Programme refugees currently in this country. We now call on all State bodies, especially the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, to provide every refugee living here with the same facilities on offer to our Kosovar guests. - Yours, etc.,
E. J. Doyle, M. Altzinger, Sweetmount Drive, Churchtown, Dublin 14
