Sir, – I see the city of Gdynia seems likely to be the base for the Irish football team next summer (Sport, December 5th). Poland’s maritime capital and headquarters of the Polish navy, the city also has a couple of the tallest buildings in the country outside Warsaw.
It has an international flavour because of its trade links with other countries and punches considerably above its weight on the culinary front. I have often thought it would be an ideal twin for the city of Cork. – Yours, etc,
