Madam, - I refer to previews of the TG4 programme Assassination-Fullerton published in The Irish Times of June 18th and the magazine of June 14th.
These stated that Cllr Fullerton was the third public representative assassinated since the foundation of the State, the other two being Kevin O'Higgins and Senator Billy Fox.
May I put the record straight? Cllr Seamus Costello, elected from 1967 to 1977 to Wicklow County Council and Bray Urban Counci,l was murdered by Official Sinn Féin/IRA on October 5th, 1977. Cllr Costello was also the only leader of an Irish political party ( the IRSP) to be assassinated. - Yours, etc,
ELIZABETH DOYLE, Dollymount Park, Dublin 3.
