Madam, - Is poor sportsmanship taught in the Dublin GAA Club youth development organisations, or is it something acquired in the senior ranks? The behaviour of the fans and the team were shameful on Sunday during the Leinster Final against Laois.
The foul language, taunting of opponents after misses and flaunting of scores were bad enough from the team, but the Dublin fans whistling and booing, especially during Laois free kicks, were equally appalling.
A low point was when Dublin fans booed the Laois Minors during the lap of honour following their victory in the Leinster Minor Final. That kind of attitude mars the atmosphere and takes away the joy of watching a good game.
This is not sour grapes about Laois losing. I admit Dublin were the better team on the day, but it's a pity they diminished their own accomplishment.- Yours, etc,
CATHY FENNELLY,
Pallas Big,
Portlaoise,
Co Laois.
