Madam, - How would Eamon Delaney (Letters, July 23rd) regard reckless population growth or, to use the biased vernacular of certain contemporaneous commentators, "papists breeding like rabbits", being posited as the main cause of the Great Irish Famine of 1848?
I also found his attempt to portray the environmental footprint of a largely agrarian society in a negative light to be as amusing as it was self-defeating. - Yours, etc,
