Madam, - RTÉ should be commended for its consistently excellent Prime Time programmes. Over the years this programme has investigated and highlighted Church sex abuse scandals and State corruption, which in some instances would have been left unchecked.
These are important issues about institutions of authority in this State, which the Irish people deserve to know about. It is a stark indication of the emergence of the country from its social and politically conservative attitudes that the national broadcaster can air such programmes. In the past, the ability or willingness of RTÉ to broadcast such programmes would have been minimal. - Yours, etc.,
