Madam, - Many people make insulting remarks about particular groups of people. For some, their prejudice is based on race, religion, gender or sexual orientation, and in a quality paper like The Irish Times anyone writing a letter calling any such group "self-righteous, belligerent, and arrogant" would not, I suggest, get into print.
You did, however see fit to print a letter from Cian Crossen (July 14th) which ascribed all of these attributes to the women and men who make a living driving taxis or lorries. The airing of such prejudice does not become acceptable when directed against particular groups of workers. - Yours, etc,
