Madam, – Senator David Norris is the strongest candidate, especially when one considers that, measured against all the other names being bandied about, he is the only one who, standing beside Queen Elizabeth, would make her look a bit common. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – In view of the excellent tenure of both Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese in the role of President of Ireland, why not make it a hat-trick by electing another of Mná na hÉireann in 2011? In this context, Mairead McGuinness and Liz McManus – should the latter decide to offer her candidacy – come to mind as worthy successors to the two Marys.
Both ladies are personable, educated, cultured, highly articulate and possessed of a dignity and gravitas that would do Ireland proud wherever in the world they represented us.
I cannot think of more suitable candidates. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – I hope Michael D Higgins changes his decision to run for President. Does Ireland really need a candidate who is more suited to becoming the next Dr Who? – Yours, etc,
