The grant of £1,000 per annum for sports in primary schools introduced by Michael Woods was scrapped as soon as he was replaced in the Education and Science Department.
Most sports/games activity is funded by parents and individual teachers and many schools do not even have a PE hall.
Even those that do often have to use it as a classroom.
