Madam, - I read with interest of oncologist John Crown being mysteriously dropped from the panel of RTÉ's Late Late Showand the subsequent speculation as to whether external influence was used in his non-appearance.
It is quite possible that no such external influence was used but I feel the public has a right to know and this matter should be properly investigated. The reputation of RTÉ as an unbiased media station is at risk.
The medical profession should take a stand in supporting Prof Crown and not sit on the fence and see what happens. They should publicly come out and support this brave medical professional with a public spirit.
Prof Crown has taken a brave stance; he could have said nothing and enjoyed his successful practice. He chose to speak out. His opinions expressed by him have upset the HSE, but he should be listened to and not attacked.
The HSE should engage in proper debate on these issues and not seek to silence him. - Yours, etc,
BART D. DALY, Mount Merrion, Co Dublin.
