Madam, - In a column headlined "Inept PSNI tarnished by Omagh" (Opinion, December 28th), Fionnuala O'Connor says of Mr Justice Weir's verdict: "It was the most brusque critique there has been of the Crown Prosecution Service and the Police Service of Northern Ireland".

This is not correct. The Crown Prosecution Service prosecutes criminal cases in England and Wales, not Northern Ireland, and was not responsible for the prosecution of Sean Hoey. Please can you make clear in any future reports that the CPS did not prosecute Mr Hoey and was not criticised by Mr Justice Weir?- Yours, etc,
