Madam, - While reading the article about the Pussycat Dolls in last Friday's issue of The Ticket, I was initially in agreement with the sentiment that the Pussycats are a "feminist" group. I admire their confidence and assume that they have adopted the "feminist" label because they have the (very sensible) opinion that it doesn't matter what you wear, all that matters is that you're happy with your personality and your choices in life.

However, I took immense issue with Pussycat Melody Thornton's comment - "we like to encourage young girls to look to the Dolls for inspiration in how to be feminine". It is thanks to people like the Pussycat Dolls that so many teenage girls, girls my age (17) and younger, are resorting to anorexia and bulimia in order to achieve that so-called "ideal body".

It was extremely careless of Thornton to imply that to be feminine one has to look like a Pussycat Doll, that one must be stick thin and wear short skirts and low cut tops. Instead of aggravating a problem facing many teenage girls today (the feeling of inadequacy if you are not a size 8 or smaller) if they truly were the feminists they claim to be they would be advertising the truth - that we're all perfect the way we are and we don't need to look like Dolls to be feminine! - Yours, etc,
