Sir, - Nessa Roche (October 8th) draws the attention of your readers to "the ongoing installation of hinged uPVC windows in Leinster House" and awaits further news on this subject from OPW.
I'm happy to oblige. A major construction project has commenced in the grounds of Leinster House to provide additional accommodation for the Oireachtas. A number of windows in the Senate chamber have been covered with PVC windows, both to protect the originals and to exclude noise and dust from the building site. They will be taken out when building work is finished. That's about it as far as PVC windows and Leinster House are concerned.
The OPW is heartened by the interest our work stimulates. We are always happy to provide information about our work. In the case of Leinster House a phone call (6613111) to myself or David Byers, the architect in charge, is all that is necessary. - Yours, etc., Jim Blighe,
