Sir, - I agree with Mr D Campbell's assertion (July 21st) that Dublin's bus lanes are usually deserted. This makes no sense, but rather than suggest that they be abolished, wouldn't it be preferable for the QBCs to be re-designated as bus or car-pooling lanes?
These lanes could be used by cars transporting at least, say, three persons including the driver. This would still leave the lanes relatively free for the odd bus which may wish to use them. I understand this system works well in the US. - Yours, etc., John O'Connell
