Sir, - I recently rang Dublin Corporation regarding the proposed bus lanes on the Stillorgan dual carriageway and through Donnybrook to find out what extra public transport would be provided when these new bus lanes become operational.
I was informed that Dublin Bus had promised a 20 per cent increase in buses at peak time which means, by my calculations and reference to the most recent timetable, one extra bus per hour on the flagship 46A route.
Does Dublin Corporation really believe, by halving road availability and providing one extra bus per hour, that anything other that absolute chaos will ensue? I support Mr. Campbell's call (July 21st) for a campaign for the abolition of this proposed madness. - Yours, etc., John Gleeson,
Blackrock,
Co. Dublin
