Sir, - Isn't it noteworthy that, during the construction of the bus corridors on a stretch of the Navan Road and along Amiens Street/North Strand Road, the public was treated to very little uproar and media coverage, unlike what we are being subjected to now that a QBC is being created through Donnybrook.
Like Donnybrook, both the Navan Road and Amiens Street QBCs have reduced the number of lanes allowed for use by general traffic from two to one, without the addition of park-and-ride facilities.
At the time these QBCs were being installed we didn't see Conor Faughnan of the AA on the television, coming to the rescue of drivers from Dublin's north and west sides, who would have to suffer delays similar to what their southside counterparts will face from today.
So what makes Donnybrook such a special case, deserving an amount of media coverage worthy of Armageddon? Is it because it's on the southside of Dublin? Is because of its proximity to RTE?
If I were cynical, I'd say it was just typical D4 snobbery, yet again. - Yours etc.,
K. Roughan, Dublin 1.
