Madam, - Paul Callaghan (August 9th) amusingly reported Ian Paisley's phone call to the Japanese government as "to advise it that Ulster's pigs aren't British". In your edition of the previous day, I had read of Dr Paisley letting it be known that in terms of the foot-and-mouth outbreak there was "clear blue water" between Northern Ireland and Britain.
But isn't the good doctor living proof that pigs can fly? - Yours, etc,
OLIVER McGRANE, Marley Avenue, Dublin 16.
