Madam, - I attended the press conference of Justice for the Forgotten on the release of the MacEntee report. I was moved by the disappointment and deep hurt etched on the faces of the relatives and survivors of the greatest mass murder in this State.
In the 33 long years since that dreadful day, these people have waited in vain hope for official disclosure of who lay behind these mass murders.
We are all diminished by the lack of rigour with which the perpetrators were pursued. The continued political ambivalence about getting to the truth undermines democracy.
As I read through the 250-page report, I was struck by the failure of every State body and government since 1974 to account to their citizens or to honour the memory of the victims and their families. - Yours, etc,
MARGARET GROGAN, Doorogue, Ballyboughal, Co Dublin.
