Sir, - The righteous Mr McCreevy has made a total mess of the Budget. He has also made a total mess of the sale of ICC Bank. His unjust, immoral and discriminatory proposal to favour dual-income families, exacerbated by his egotism and stubborn pragmatism, has caused division and disquiet. His efforts now to buy off women and men who have chosen to stay at home as carers - or in some cases had no alternative - are simply making a bad job worse.
I suggest the best way forward is for Mr McCreevy to resign his ministerial position and let someone else fix this mess. - Yours, etc.,
