Sir, - I wish these stay-at-home mothers would stop whinging about being shortchanged in the recent Budget.
We single people have been discriminated against for years by the Budgets of successive governments and, due to our minority status, have had to put up with the injustice. For example, in a table in your Budget Supplement, the lowest income illustrated, £12,500, showed a discrepancy of over £1,000 in take-home pay.
Is staying single perceived as an illegal act, or what? - Yours, etc.,
D. K. Henderson, Castle Avenue, Clontarf, Dublin 3.
