Madam, - In his column "Reds are down but never out" (Opinion, December 21st) David Adams marvels at "how love for the same football club can unify people to the extent that all of the petty differences of religion, nationality, politics, ethnicity and skin pigment are forgotten". However, he clearly expresses religious, political and partisan feelings earlier in the article when he describes being "beaten one-nil at Anfield by our hated rivalsManchester United" (my italics).
- Yours, etc,
MARK LEONARD, Dublin 24.
