Sir, - I read with amusement the first of a series called "Hidden Ulster" by Gerry Moriarty (May 20th). He describes uncompromising views between the two communities near the Loughall area of the apple growing county of Armagh.
I ran a wholesale fruit business in Dublin Corporation fruit markets for 40 years. I frequently purchased cooking apples from Armagh - both Protestant and Catholic suppliers only.
I only found them uncompromising on their unwillingness to breach their united agreement on the price structure they established jointly prior to the market opening for business. A good example of economics transcending religious differences! - Yours, etc.,
