Madam, - Things are convenient enough already. Please don't even think about reducing the size of the pages of The Irish Times (Letters, January 4th).
And while you're about that thought, the reports, ideas and words on those pages don't need "compacting" either, thank you very much.
Personally, the point of reading a big newspaper is that one has to wrestle it into place to better get a grip on its notions and to place oneself in a more receptive mental state to either absorb or reject the paper's arguments. That folding and refolding and snapping the damn thing into shape is an essential part of the romance of reading a proper newspaper.
