Madam, - Having looked through Tom Doorley's restaurant guide (July 2nd), I could only presume that he just forgot a few of the best restaurants in Dublin - places where Dubliners who love food and a warm welcome and good service like to go on a fairly regular basis.
On reflection, I am relieved that this is so, as those of us who are fond of a particularly pleasant table in these establishments dread the promotions which bring in crowds of people, thus making the place noisy and crowded.
Tom Doorley left out the Pearl Brasserie, La Mère Zou, Jacob's Ladder and the Frère Jacques - all top-quality restaurants with delightful French staff and excellent chefs. Tant pis pour lui - et pour vos lecteurs. - Yours, etc,
DERBHILE MCCARTHY, Ailesbury Park, Dublin 4.
