Madam, - The comment by Liz McManus ( Book Reviews, November 3rd) about the "contradiction" offered by Dana's commitment to family values while spending time away from her family campaigning for such values are as snide and churlish as those made by Padraig Flynn about a certain other presidential candidate's "new found interest" in her family.
If the subject were a man, would Ms McManus be so quick with such unpleasant and unwarranted remarks? - Yours, etc,
ULTAN Ó BROIN, South Circular Road, Dublin 8.
Madam, - It would appear that Liz McManus has merely skimmed the pages of Dana's autobiography. Maybe there were not enough pictures for her.
Dana has been entirely forthcoming regarding her financial donations and Ms McManus should know, as she herself is a public representative, that all donations are subject to official scrutiny.
It would appear that Ms McManus is still smarting - some 10 years later - from the resounding defeat inflicted by Dana on the Labour Party during her presidential campaign of 1997. - Yours, etc,
JOHN BROWN (former campaign manager and assistant to Dana Rosemary Scallon), Clonmany,Co Donegal.
