Sir, - Anthony Hanrahan (June 22nd) should be assured that he is not the only man in Ireland wholeheartedly in support of the NATO actions in the Balkans. I am another. I agree with Mr Hanrahan's letter in every detail, wishing only to amplify his point about Ireland's smugness in the face of distant war. We display national cowardice and hypocrisy by sheltering (free) under the British, American and French umbrella; by taking no responsibility for the defence of our new prosperity or of the rest of Europe; and by then sanctimoniously tut-tutting when our protectors go to war in a just cause. That cause was both humanitarian and in defence of the Europe of which Ireland so loudly professes itself part - when no danger or nastiness is at hand. - Yours, etc., Conor Sexton,
Castleside Drive, Rathfarnham, Dublin 14.
