Sir, - Your second Editorial of July 9th, relating to the Bradford riots, ends with the statement: "It is the Government's duty to ensure that such a development is never reached here".
It is, indeed, the Government's duty; and the most important way, by far, that it can fulfill that duty is to ensure that a multi-racial demography in this country is kept to the levels that the indigenous population is willing to accept.
The Government must know this and yet it continues to allow a situation where only a token handful of failed asylum-seekers are deported instead of the 80 TO 90 per cent who should be. It continues to make us a "honey pot" by our citizenship laws. It continues to allow employers to abuse the work permits system and to employ illegals with impunity, thereby causing a higher level of immigration than required.
In short, it copies all the mistakes of other European countries, instead of learning from their errors. It will reap the same reward - or rather, our unfortunate people will. - Yours, etc.,
