Madam, - The Taoiseach, Mr Ahern, claims his Government did not support or facilitate the US-led war in Iraq.
Yet according to the figures released by Aer Rianta on January 14th, as reported in your paper the following day, some 125,000 US troops on over 1,500 flights passed through Shannon Airport last year.
Unless these troops, many of whom were sighted in military uniform, were travelling incognito as tourists or on some other business, it is very clear to me that Mr Ahern's claims simply do not add up! - Yours, etc.,
